Officials described Line 22 as a "major transport artery" for regional integration. The route will connect with multiple existing lines, including transfers at Hongmiao to Line 14, Guanzhuang to Line 1, Beiguan to Line 6, and Beijing Sub-Center Station to Line 6 and the Beijing-Tangshan intercity railway. The line is expected to be ready for opening by year's end.
